ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Get enrolled. Watch your student learn and connect!

Sunrise PTA is proud to organize and sponsor enrichment programs at our school.

The truth is, it can be difficult to pick up our kiddos from a late release time and then drive around an area bogged down with traffic for your student to learn new skills and enjoy new hobbies. Trying to satisfy the needs of young children, elementary, middle, and high school kids can be a challenge when you spend hours in the car or have to rush home from work. Classes are offered in the morning and after school, helping you manage morning and evening family needs.

Why should I sign my student up for an enrichment class?

Great question!

We offer a fun and smart option for getting your student to develop new friendships, learn new skills, express themselves with art, or just enjoy some exercise (especially in the cold, dark months). Our classes are offered by excellent professionals and organizations while at the convenience of our home school. Sunrise Elementary!

Art for Kids School by Art For Kids School  info@artforkidsschool.com    Grade: K – 5

We teach kids progressive art skills. We consider our program like that of ballet or piano lessons. Students are taught a skill, correction is made, practice is encouraged, and the end result takes the skills learned along with their new-found creative confidence to create beautiful masterpieces. You can visit our website at www.artforkidsschool and view the Gallery to see examples of students' amazing work.

Building and Designing with Dominoes are great for STEM and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics). Students will work on different domino stacking techniques and challenges during this hour-long club meeting. Students will be expected to listen to and follow directions, be respectful to the club leaders and fellow club members. To ensure that each class is productive and fun for all we ask that a parent volunteer attend each class when registration is closed a Sign-Up email will be sent out. *Morning and Afternoon Domino Club will not be participating in the Maker Faire set-up this year.  Everyone will have an opportunity to build at the event, following the fall down.

Having some experience in Scratch or other entry-level game creation tools is recommended, but not required.

Intro to Sewing by Second Stitch Clothing   Grade: 4 – 5

In this sewing class, we will start with the basics and build new knowledge each week. Expected projects are: stuffed emoji backpack charm, rice snake, pillowcase, and drawstring tote bag. I have additional projects if we still have time and a side project for students to work on if they complete the main task. We will be doing some hand stitching and we will have 2 or 3 sewing machines for up to 6 students to share.

Mad Science - STEMulating Science by Mad Science of Sno-King  MadScience@MadScienceFun.com   Grade: 1 – 5

Our Junior Mad Scientists put the STEM into science as we examine how potential and kinetic energy is used to power toys, learn about frequencies and cell phones, explore what life is like underwater, discover how the sun, wind, and water make electricity, and experiment with action-reaction forces as we investigate Newton’s three laws of motion. Every Mad Science class delivers engaging hands-on activities, amazing demonstrations, and fun educational take-homes that your Junior Mad Scientist can build and share with family and friends.

Sunrise - Ukulele by After School Music Academy  info@afterschoolmusicacademy.org   Grade: K – 3

The uke is an excellent instrument on which to learn how to play music. It's relatively simple to learn, easy to tote around, inexpensive, super fun, and timelessly popular! In this ensemble, we will jump right into the fun stuff and learn how to play music on the ukulele. By the end of the course, students will know a few chord positions, will be able to play a couple of songs on the ukulele, and be able to sing along. Our instructors bring a classroom set of ukuleles with them to every class for the kids to use and we highly recommend that students also have a ukulele at home to practice.

Sunrise Creative Dance/Hip Hop by After School Music Academy  info@afterschoolmusicacademy.org  Grade: K – 3

Dance uplifts, unites, and empowers children. It also provides children with an opportunity to express their individuality while working on gross motor skills and developing cognitive and social skills. Hip Hop is the perfect class for children who want to dance, stay active, and learn how to freestyle! Musicality, rhythm, and creative movement are key components of this fun, urban/street-style dance class that teaches boys and girls alike to step, stomp, and shake it out.

TGA Premier Youth Tennis by TGA of Greater Seattle  bkirkpatrick@playtga.com   Grade: K – 5
